Return

I do apologize for missing a few days. I had a wedding in the Bahamas that superseeded all other events in my life. My little brother just married the most amazing woman in the world. So a special shout out and congrats to my brother Barrett, and his amazing bride Mrs. Jessica Prince. The Bahamas were out of control btw, we stayed at Sandal's resort. Yes the "couples" resort. I really don't wanna find single women ever, LOL. Everything was inclusive, and being as we had already splashed the cash I decided to partake in the sacrament, and other adult beverages as necessary. Then I proceeded to continue to drink as to not allow time for a hangover, best and worst idea ever.....

Anyway I ate horribly, and often, and drank til I could hardly walk. Today was definitely a day of reckoning. I actually didn't do to bad my first day back in the gym. Most of my weights increased, and I wasn't as winded as I was anticipating. However I did notice one major thing. My gut is definitely poppin. This is a no go for me, however the guru says not to worry I am soon to be on the cutting portion of my diet and contest preparation.

Weight PM 243

Workout was C/S/T Chest Shoulders and Tris

Food
Horrible since I was traveling most of the day I ate beef jerky and several protein shakes.

oh for late dinner I had 2 slices of Little Ceasar's Pizza...

Sunday Fun Day!

So today was pretty chill, I usually use sundays to prep for monday. However today I got in some great time with the Aunt and Uncle. We moved logs and it was a good time. This of course happened after my Back and Bicep workout. Yeah I definitely pick the right days to workout those muscles. Today's training was a little more mental than most. I was asked when I started this blog to include the mental aspect of bodybuilding. Since I consider myself a novice at this I can only explain what I have dealt with personally. I had a gym guru tell me once that this sport is just as much mental as it is physical. You have to make a distinct connection with your mind and muscles. No one in the business does this better than IFBB Pro Kai Greene. If you get a chance look him up on youtube the man is incredible, a true cerebral warrior. However enough about him, my mental aspect on this is to this extent. When I work my back I try to visualize the muscles I am working since I can't really see them I try to place emphasis on the areas I am attempting to make grow. Deadlifts one of my new lifts that I am still working out the kinks to I have to mentally see my lower back squeezing at a certain point other wise I get nothing out of the lift. This has helped me more than I can ever relate. The connection between mind and muscle is a often under valued connection. So when you lift think of the area's that you are working trust me if growth or leanness is what your going for it will help you, and could be that little extra you are missing.

Remember to eat clean, and stay strong.

P.S. On a side note I saw something quite disturbing today, those that know me know I used to be a fat kid, and I still have those tendencies. I saw a little child today that was pudgy. He was with his gma at the store anyway long story short he got some change back and when his gma asked for it, he wanted to keep it so he could put it on his lunch charge at school. When the gma asked why he needed the extra money he said cause he was fat and liked to eat extra snacks. Hummm and we wonder why we have become an obese nation. I just hope that this doesn't come back and bite me in the ass later....

Train hard!

16 Weeks!

16 Weeks, 16 Weeks that's all I have til SHOWTIME....holy crap this is sneaking up on me quickly. However I will be prepared. Got a lot of great stuff coming up in the next few months, learning how to pose, and put some music to a routine to show off in the evening show for the fans, as well as trying to maximize the package we have been working hard to put together so I don't get blown off the stage. Today was a day of rest, while I am a little apprehensive to resting, I can't deny the results I grow more when I give my body the time it needs to repair and rest up. So today is one of those days. Tomorrow gonna be a fun time. Back to the routine of 2 on 1 off and 1 on 1 off.

Eats today

Breakfast: 2 chicken breasts with cajun seasoning

Protein Shake- Whey

Lunch- Nekid Burrito from Qdoba --rice, chicken, cilantro, and queso

Protein Shake- Whey

Dinner- Sabaro's Pizza 2 pieces

Protein Shake- Casein

On a side note had a bit of a freak out moment today. I went and watched American Reunion with my roommate. I didn't realize this but the guys on the American Pie Series graduated the same year I did. I freaked a bit on my math and had a moment where I thought we were on our 15th year out, but quickly was corrected and told its only 13 however, the issue remains where the hell does the time go. I have no idea, anyone have any suggestion I am open to help.

Anyhoo everyone have a great weekend, and train hard.

Nice Ass

Today ah today....let me see woke up did a Company run this morning. 4 miles later not a typo (oh how I wish it was) We completed our run. Rest of the day was pretty chill I was out of work by noon.

Headed to the gym today to do Legs. I have a love/hate relationship on leg days. I know I need to work them and I work them hard, but I really hate the fact that a good portion of my body is in pain upon completing my leg workout. However I will say one good thing about this type of exercise, apparently it shows off my rear rather nicely, as a lady in the gym proceeded to tell me today. Ladies guys love flirting as well.

Day 2

Ok so another day in the books.

AM Weight 228
PM Weight 236

AM Workout: 6 Mile Ruck March under time
PM Workout: Chest/Triceps/Shoulders
Quick note on the evening workout, I have been doing barbell incline press, however today I changed it up to dumbbells, only cause I really like the individualistic approach of training both arms equally rather than relying on my stronger arm to assist the weak one.

Food:

Breakfast: 4 eggs with ham and cheese, bowl of trail mix, and dried cranberries, 2 bowls of Raisin Brand with chocolate milk, and Bowl of Fruit mix, pears and cantalope. YUMMM

Lunch: Salad with the works, and Fruit Bowl of Watermellon and grapes.

Shake: Whey

Dinner: Grilled Chicken Salad

Shake: Casein

So today not much going on just a little tweaking of the workout to better benefit me. I am seeing some increases in my weights which delights me as well as gaining weight again.

Till next time.....

And were OFF!

Day 1: Little background on this. As of today I have been training for this for 6 months to date. I when I started I weighed about 205 pounds, today I am a whopping 229, as of a few minutes ago, and considerably more muscular. Anyway what I get asked most about this journey is why do it, and at my advanced age. (Advanced age is just a nice way of saying old I found out) First of all if anyone knows anything about bodybuilding, then you know its a lifestyle something you think about all the time, its not just a show, its a journey with a unknown destination. Hell even the Greats still have work to do, and can always be better. So for me its more a journey to be the best person I can, with a physical goal and venue to direct my ADD energy towards. So to the ones that call me advanced, screw you I know what that means, and to my loving classmates from High School, no matter how old I get, I will still be younger than all of you. Alright as I have stated there is a lot that has already happened so I am gonna give a quickie update and try my damndest to keep up on this thing, although I will admit I am horrible at staying occupied at something for too long besides lifting weights.

Quick recap, I went to Afghanistan, got skinny cause the food blew, and since I was given an opportunity to redo the way I looked I chose once again to fulfill a dream to compete in a bodybuilding show. Got back stateside and decided rather than become Husky again ( I know what that means too) I would refocus and redirect my energy to seeing how fit and muscular I could and can become.

Now that were caught up. I have assembled a great team that continues to keep up with me via email, Facebook, and texting. I would like to thank them. Thank you! My main guru is Steve Weingarten a former Mr. Kentucky. He is a Personal Trainer out of Louisville, Kentucky and so far the only one on my team that knows what the hell is going on, cause I sure don't. I am along for the ride and enjoying the journey. So now that we are caught up.

Workout it varies. I am currently doing two-a-days not by choice but my chosen profession currently is to be a pee-on in the Military, aka Enlisted Soldier. I do PT with my platoon in the mornings and this mainly consists of running, running, and oh yeah that fun thing to do again running. Ok so if you don't know I abhor running with a passion in fact I am thinking about making it a dirty word to say to me, well see how that goes another time. Anyhoo aside from that little distraction my day is spent mainly focusing on my evening workout and that's when my work begins. I am in the gym and in my element. No matter what has happened during the day those few hours in the gym are my baptism. I leave feeling refreshed, exhausted, and anew.

Eating, I eat a lot. I don't miss much food that is, and I have been learning that the more you eat the more your hungry. I have always been a larger guy however I am learning that if you wanna keep the internal metabolism fire lit, just got to keep feeding it. So once again I eat, a lot, and I wanna put special emphasis on this. Eating to me the way I feel is about 80% of how I look. 30% is the gym, but wait Jarrod that's 110% yes, that's what it takes to achieve the dreams and goals you set for yourselves. No one said it would be easy, just said it would be worth it.

Anyway as far as today went quick run down. Hope this doesn't bore you too much, but if you read to here there must be something your interested in, and if you are a friend, you are a good one and have done your duty.

Today:

Morning workout 5 mile run moderate pace

Food: 4 Egg's scrambled with ham and cheese, 6 pears slices, 15 red grapes seedless, 2 spoon fulls of raisins, cup of hashbrowns, and this was breakfast. Glass of Orange Juice and Apple Juice.

Lunch was some italian pasta thingy, not sure what it was called, and green peas, and beans that I realized were saturated in gravy so they went into the trash. Salad with the works, raisins, and cheese, bacon bits and croutons. Granny Smith Apple (my favorite), and 2 glasses of water.

Dinner #1 4 eggs, packet of tuna, greek salad dressing and cajun spice blend for taste, glass of water
